Workshops for Dancers

IDM Workshops provide information, motivation and support for small to medium-sized groups, to create more awareness and encourage talk about mental fitness.  The aim is to promote the balance of mind and body fitness, together with the love for dance, and the desire to achieve and succeed.

Whether online or in person, these would be provided in partnership with dance organisations, schools and dance studios.

The workshops can be tailormade to your specific needs and timings.

Individual workshops would be of a minimum of 1 hour and maximum of one full day.  Or we could create a programme of workshops spread over a number of months.

Depending on agreed requirements, costings and availability, any combination of founders could be booked to present at the Workshop(s) - i.e. one to all four.   Each of the founders have their own skills and passions, so establishing who would best suit your requirements would be part of the tailoring process.

If you are interested to find out more about how the IDM Workshops could support you, please contact us on ask@internationaldancingminds.com for an initial discussion.

Kristina Pfeffer

- The Ballroom Coach

I work with dancers of all levels and ages.I am passionate about helping dancers achieve excellence through optimising their mindset. I work in a very goal orientated way, which means that in the first chat we will establish what you feel your challenges are and where you want to be. We then make a plan to determine how we can get you closer to that goal. I usually give clients tasks to do during the week which can be mindset exercises and/or things to test out in practice. For me it is extremely important to work with clients in a way that they feel comfortable opening up to me and I am also available between sessions if needed as well as present at most big competitions. I specialise in improving confidence, communication within the couple and dealing with anxiety in relation to performance.

I offer:

1-2-1 Coaching Online either individually or to the couple.

Workshops tailored to your needs in topics such as improving confidence, preparing for competitions, how to plan practices, goal setting etc

1-2-1 Sessions with Coaches or Parents on how to support the athlete.

"Kristina has been a huge support over the last months with her constant motivational thoughts, the occasional push in the right direction, and for always being ready to laugh with me about life. Her insight into the ballroom dance world has been invaluable to help me manage my lessons and competitions better, and more recently how to cope with no studio time at all."

"Kristina has done some fabulous work with our students at the Cha Cha School of Dance, working closely with them to make sure they are prepared mentally for up coming competitions! Couldn’t recommend her more!"

"Kristina has really helped me in my quest to be a competent ballroom dancer. She imparts her vast knowledge in an easy understandable and fun way. She is very approachable and friendly. Highly recommended."

Karen Goold

 - Dance With Confidence Now

Helping dancers and dance professionals to control anxiety and improve mental agility ready for competitions, performances and examinations.

We’re all human and it’s normal to feel anxious when facing challenging situations (however much we may try to hide it).  But if worries and fears have a more significant effect and interfere with our ability to reach our full potential, it’s definitely worth looking at in more detail.

In order for dancers to maintain the ability to keep their mind and body in the optimum state, it helps to be able to control anxiety levels and the potential for negativity on the lead up to a dance event and during the routines themselves.

Based on the latest advances in neuroscience, Karen’s approach has proven to be effective in helping clients embed the changes needed to achieve their goals. This involves techniques to improve self-awareness, confidence, motivation, creativity, conflict/stress management and communication (with partners, teachers etc).

By learning more about our own behaviours, we can utilise our mind’s natural chemical reactions to enhance the ability to think creatively and respond quickly to any eventuality.  Very useful during training and performing.

Coaching helps dancers and dance partners to gain a better understanding of themselves, discover and reduce negativity/limiting beliefs, and change the bad habits which could be preventing the achievement of their goals.

Coaching Packages:

Coaching can be attended either in person or via Zoom.

Individual 1-2-1 Coaching

  • 1.5 hour initial consultation session to discover the specific concerns.

  • Individual 1-1.5 hour coaching sessions, or packages of 6 sessions available.

Partnerships

Given the close relationship needed between dance partners, both mentally and physically, there are major benefits from understanding how each other is motivated, makes decisions, takes in information and can control anxiety.  This builds a strong team, capable of powerful insight and assistance to each other, both before and during the dance.

  • 2 hour initial consultation to establish individual needs as well as those of the partnership.

  • Individual and/or couple 1-2 hour coaching sessions, or packages of 6 sessions available.

Example Testimonials:

“Thank you so much for our coaching sessions.  I have so much more confidence now – we just went out and really enjoyed our competition and did exceptionally well.  My teacher told me that he’d never seen me dancing so confidently, and now that I’ve mastered the confidence we can really start to make the most of my presentation skills.  I know how to control the nerves, and really smile – judges seem to notice, my fellow dancers seem to notice.  And my confidence levels seem to be benefiting my normal life as well, as I’ve had the added bonus of attracting lots of compliments!” – C, Dance Student

“Your coaching style was one of approachability, friendliness, helpfulness, and resourcefulness, combined with gentle probing to get to the heart of the issues. The coaching style was applied differently to each of us, as although we are a couple and dance together, we are individuals within that and have different strengths and weaknesses, and different needs. Once again, thanks for all your help, which has given us through positive thinking more resilience to weather not only dancing’s ups and downs, but also life’s ups and downs.” – Dance Couple
